Project Title:
Continuation of support for joint activities within the EURECA-PRO European University (2025 call for applications)

Project Leader: Silesian University of Technology
Project number (NAWA): BPI/WUE/2025/1/00001
Duration of the project: 01.10.2025 - 31.05.2027
Funding:  1 494 140,00 PLN

The project is consistent with the main objective of the programme, i.e: "Development of internationalisation of Polish higher education and science institutions through strengthening their role in European University Alliances (hereinafter EU Alliances)". The implementation of the project aims to increase the activity of the Silesian University of Technology community in the activities of the EURECA-PRO European University entitled: "Responsible Consumption and Production".

The planned tasks will allow the selected specific objectives of the programme to be achieved:
- increase in the quality of education thanks to the solutions developed within the EU alliance;
- intensification of academic exchange through international cooperation;
- increased institutional capacity for international cooperation;
- strengthening the position of Polish HEIs in the international dimension.

The EURECA-PRO consortium currently comprises 9 universities from 8 EU member states:
Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria),
Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany),
Technical University of Crete (Greece),
Universidad de León (Spain),
Silesian University of Technology (Poland),
University of Petrosani (Romania),
University of Applied Sciences Mittweida (Germany),
Hasselt University (Belgium),
Université de Lorraine (France).

EURECA-PRO University launched the second phase of the project at the end of 2023, scheduled for 2023-2027. In this phase, further integration of the partner universities and the intensification of joint projects is planned. It is also planned to build the nucleus of a joint structure in the form of stand-alone European University offices in place of the existing inter-university working groups.

One of the greatest challenges facing the EURECA-PRO consortium is to ensure the widespread participation of members of the academic community of individual universities in the consortium's activities. In order to achieve this, the number of joint events organised at all levels (student, doctoral, staff) as well as in different areas of joint activities (didactic, scientific, organisational, promotional, social, etc.) is gradually increasing. Many of these activities require the direct involvement of representatives of the academic community at the partner's premises and the associated mobility.

The main focus of the planned project is on networking and integration within the EURECA-PRO consortium.

The project also responds to a fundamental problem in the implementation of joint activities - the lack of sufficient financial resources to provide the required level of mobility (especially short-term mobility) - also in a way to increase mobility to SUT.

The project consists of 5 tasks complementary to the ongoing project (No. BPI/WUE/2024/1/00010/KW/00001), which received funding under the first call of this programme:

1. development and implementation of a database application system for teaching and research projects.

2. organisation of Scientific Workshop for young scientists.

3. study visits of SUT staff to a partner university (participation in Review Week, Staff Week, etc.).

4. organisation of networking events at SUT (Staff Week, Integration Week, etc.).

5. participation in organised forms of training at foreign partners (Summer School, PhD Journey, etc.).

Task 1 aims to develop and implement a web-based system to facilitate the matchmaking and formation of project teams. The system is to be flexible enough to allow recruitment for different types of activities carried out at the university and in international collaboration. These could be teaching projects (e.g. PBL, study circles), research projects, joint doctorates, etc. A widely accessible portal in Polish and English will enable broad promotion of SUT activities and facilitate the participation of participants from partner universities.

Task 2 aims to organise a scientific workshop for doctoral students from the EURECA-PRO consortium linked to participation in the InterTechDOC 2026 scientific conference. 50 doctoral students from 9 EURECA-PRO universities will take part in the workshop.

Task 3 will enable the funding of an appropriate delegation from the SUT in the Review Week meetings planned for 2026 and 2027. In previous meetings, the composition of the delegation has usually been adjusted to the available funding.

Task 4 will make it possible to organise networking events at the SUT - which, in addition to their integration value, will also be an excellent promotion of the university in Europe. It is assumed that the arrival of students and doctoral students from partner universities will be financed, while the arrival of staff can be more easily financed from the Erasmus+ programme.

Task 5 will enable participation of SUT doctoral students in organised forms of education (Workshop, Summer School, PhD Journey, etc.) at foreign partners of the EURECA-PRO consortium.
