A A+ A++

In October and November, members of our Research Society actively represented the Silesian University of Technology both nationally and internationally. They participated in research internships and prestigious scientific events, developing their skills, gaining laboratory experience, and presenting the results of their projects. Below are the most important activities our members have been involved in over the past few weeks.

From 6th to 31th of October 2025, a member of our Society, Łukasz Gralewski, completed a research internship at Hochschule Aalen University in Germany. The internship program included learning about the theoretical foundations of modern analytical techniques, such as NMR and MALDI-MS, as well as practical training in the use of equipment, sample preparation, and interpretation of the obtained spectra. The skills acquired were then used during measurements of samples provided as part of a research project carried out at the Silesian University of Technology. In the case of NMR spectroscopy, experiments such as ¹H, ¹³C, DEPT, HSQC, COSY, and TCOSY were performed. In the case of MALDI-MS, the sample preparation process included the preparation of solutions, evaporation of the solvent, and application of appropriate matrices to the measurement plate.

Emilia Kościelny represented our Society during the 29th Gliwice Scientific Meetings conference, which took place on November 20-21, 2025. She presented a poster entitled “Betulin glycoconjugates - synthesis of selected models using the CuAAC reaction and preliminary assessment of their cytotoxicity” related to the research project “Research on chemical modifications of betulin,” which she is conducting under the supervision of PhD Mirosława Grymel.

The events of recent months are the best proof that our Society is a space for dynamic development and inspiring initiatives. We are glad that our members can not only acquire new skills, but also present the results of their work in the scientific community. We are convinced that this is only the beginning of further successes.
