Destination: Canada! Silesian Phoenix is heading to CIRC 2025 thanks to the support of the Ministry and University Authorities

We can officially say it – Silesian Phoenix is going to Canada! Thanks to the support of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the authorities of the Silesian University of Technology, we’re ready to take part in the Canadian International Rover Challenge 2025.

With PLN 120,000 in funding from the Ministry as part of a special national science initiative, we can now fully cover the logistics for this mission – including flights for the entire team, shipping our Phoenix III rover, and transporting all essential technical equipment. The total project value is PLN 160,000.

What is CIRC?

The Canadian International Rover Challenge (CIRC) is one of the world’s most respected competitions for student-built planetary rovers. For us, it's not just a competition – it’s an opportunity to develop technical skills, grow as a team, and exchange knowledge with the global robotics community.

This will be our second time competing in CIRC. In last year’s edition, we proudly ranked 8th out of over 20 teams from around the world – a strong debut we now plan to build on. We’re bringing a fully upgraded version of Phoenix III, refined through months of testing and development.

Promoting Polish science abroad

Competing in Canada is also a chance to showcase Polish innovation on the international stage. Phoenix III is the result of student-driven engineering – from mechanical design to software, field mission planning, and real-world testing.

We believe our presence at CIRC 2025 will not only boost our skills but also send a clear message that Polish technical universities are a force to be reckoned with in mobile robotics.
