The members of our society have been laureates of the "Gold Medal of Chemistry 2023"! The DuPont Special Distinction went to Mateusz Zygadło and Łukasz Jakubski. In addition, Łukasz Jakubski won the Bronze Medal in Chemistry.
It all started in the 3rd year of studies, when I joined the team of dr hab. ing. Gabrieli Dudek, prof. Under the supervision of the professor, I conduct screening of catalysts used in the process of alcoholization of PET. My research resulted in my co-authorship in two scientific publications. I also presented the results of my research at three scientific conferences. The research I conducted seemed so important to me that in September 2023 I submitted my engineering project to the Gold Medal of Chemistry competition. Less than two months later, I received the information that I had reached the close finals, during which each finalist gave a 10 minute presentation on their thesis. On this basis, the laureates were selected, among which I had the honour to be among. On December 13, 2023 at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, the awards ceremony took place, during which I received a distinction from DuPont. - adds Mateusz

On December 9th, this year’s Winter Meeting of the Young Chemists Section of the Polish Chemical Society took place at the Young Chemists Section Meeting. During the meeting members of our society: Agnieszka Kicińska, Łukasz Czapura and Jakub Ćwiertnia had the opportunity to present posters from their own research. In addition, our two members: Natalia Siodłak and Julia Grzonka, who won awards during the spring congress, were invited to the conference, in order to distinguish and present their work in the form of a presentation on the panel "Young Scientists". Unfortunately Natalia was not able to present herself due to health reasons, while Julia Gorzonka talked about finishing of aluminium alloys using the phenomenon of soft sparking during plasma oxidation. electrolytic.
