A A+ A++

The OCTA (Organic Charge Transfer Applications) project, which has been operating at our University for four years, enables the development of researchers in terms of gaining experience and conducting research at foreign universities.

The overall objective of the project is to create a collaboration of universities from all over the world focused on the study of processes and applications of materials capable of carrying organic charges. To achieve this scientific goal, a network of partners has been created, including:

  • Silesian University of Technology (SUT, Poland),

  • University of Durham (UDUR, UK),

  • University of Glasgow (UoG, UK),

  • University of Dusseldorf (UOD, Germany),

  • Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC , Brazil),

  • National Taiwan University (NTU, Taiwan)

  • Osaka University (OU, Japan)

  • Technical University of Denmark (DTU, Denmark)

  • University of Auckland (UoA, New Zealand)

  • Lodz University of Technology (, Poland)

As a PhD student at the Department of Physicochemistry and Polymer Technology, I had the pleasure of participating in the OCTA project at the beginning of this year through an internship in New Zealand. I worked in the team of Prof. Jadranka Travaš-Sejdić together with MSc Eng. Magdalena Zawadzka and dr Eng. Sandra Pluczyk-Małek. The ongoing research at the School of Chemical Sciences focused on the study of conductive polymers. Currently, another 3 people went to New Zealand, to the same research center MSc Eng. Patryk Janasik, MSc. Małgorzata Skorupa and Dr hab. Eng. Małgorzata Czichy. The next trainees will do an internship at the beginning of July in Brazil. These are just a few examples of how vigorously and fruitfully the OCTA project is being implemented. A significant number of researchers from our University had the opportunity to develop and gain experience by going on internships to the farthest corners of the world.
