Despite the fact that we still have a holiday as students, it did not bother us to go to the conference! On 15 September, a delegation of students of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Silesian University of Technology and members of our Society: Julia Murzynowska, Hubert Knap and Łukasz Krypczyk went to the 7th National Conference “Entering the World of Science”, which took place in the building of the University of Economics in Wrocław. The conference had no main theme, it was an interdisciplinary meeting of students from all over Poland, who could share their work, what they are interested in and what they have achieved so far. Interdisciplinarity allowed broadening horizons and establishing contacts between people representing different fields of science. The conference was quite small, but the atmosphere and very friendly environment allowed you to get used to and get to know and “grow” to the formula of scientific conferences, which I consider to be the biggest advantage of such conferences.
As for the topics with which we set out to represent our university, these were the results of research conducted within the framework of the PBL project “Electrochemical studies of wood biomass derivatives towards the production of energy storage devices based on lignin-cellulose materials”. Julia Murzynowska presented a poster titled. ‘Processing of wood biomass into porous lignin-cellulose materials and their potential applications’. Łukasz Krypczyk presented the poster “Application of lignin-cellulose materials in energy storage devices”. Hubert Knap presented a poster entitled “Measurements of electrical properties of energy storage devices made from wood biomass”.

A great place when it comes to getting interested in the world of science and on the occasion of presenting ourselves and the topic we work on or are passionate about”
