On November 2, 2023, our members of the Society, together with our Supervisor - PhD Anna Byczek-Wyrostek met at the General Meeting!
As part of our meeting we also hosted two guests who gave us a lot of useful and valuable information.
The first guest was PhD Eng Agnieszka Siewniak, who presented the DEEP Inventhei - Silesian University of Technology initiative, in which our faculty is involved.
As part of a short presentation, Ms. Doctor talked about the whole initiative, which aims to stimulate creativity among young people and more! As part of this event, there are also planned workshops on creating start-ups and developing your creativity, for which you can sign up until November 6 through the form on the fanpage of the whole initiative - we invite you!
Our second guest was the previously announced MSc Eng Mateusz Polis, who presented us the use of cameras in explosives testing. During the lecture, you could learn many interesting things about the subject and watch short videos, which were recorded using, among others, high-speed cameras. This lecture could not have been created without the cooperation of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. The research was carried out by Łukasiewicz - IPO and by the Explosive Techniques Research Group in Krupski Młyn.
After the visit of our guests, it was time for a short presentation of our Management Board. Our President - Mateusz Pilszek - summed up the previous semester, where we took part in more than 13 events! In addition, new changes to the statute were voted, which concern, among other things, stylistic changes and adding points regarding the possibility of submitting membership declarations electronically.
There has also been a change in the Management Board, which for this term is as follows:
- President of the Society - Mateusz Pilszek
- Deputy President - Weronika Kołodziej
- Secretary of the Circle - Mateusz Zygadło
- Deputy Secretary - Miłosz Kucharski
- Research Section Coordinator - Maciej Gdala
- Coordinator for popular science section - Filip Wojtas
- Section and PR coordinators: Janusz Pryciuk, Agnieszka Kicińska and Hubert Knap
A plan for the academic year 2023/2024 is also presented, which is as follows:
- Chemicals 2024
In order to organize this wonderful, long-standing tradition of our Faculty we need YOU! Every pair of helping hands is worth the weight of gold to us. Therefore, we encourage you to apply to the members of the Management Board - because without YOU we are not able to organize such a big event, which we want the whole Silesian University of Technology to remember for a very long time 🙂 - Workshops for high school graduation classes
It is a kind of continuation of our trips to schools, which we organized at the turn of April-June 2023. Graduates (and not only) come to us to learn chemistry from a practical point of view, not just through textbooks or exercises. The whole initiative started in September and will last until June 2024. People who would like to help us organize workshops and would like to feel like a leader - we invite you to contact Agnieszka Kicińska. Hubert Knap and Filip Wojtas 😉 - Delegation visits to educational institutions
This is a continuation of our initiative from the previous academic year - but now we want to do it with even greater vigour! We start from January 2024 - if you want to test your self-presentation skills and meet interesting people - contact the members of the Management Board! - And many other popular science events for which we need YOU!
Thank you very much PhD Eng Agnieszce Siewniak and MSc Eng Mateusz Polis for his visit to our Meeting and we also thank all the members of the Circle who were also with us on that day 🙂
