On September 27, the day after the workshop for secondary schools, our Faculty visited Primary School No. 31 from Dąbrowa Górnicza. Class 8a had the opportunity to attend a lecture on pH indicators, where they learned the secrets of changing the color of orange and phenolphthalein. They also learned that the pH itself has no taste, so it is not acidic, and the acidity or alkalinity of the solution is already described as a reaction.
After the lecture, the students went to the laboratory on Grey, where they could do magic knocking reactions themselves or receive artificial blood. Young people with great commitment and caution proceeded to work in the laboratory, previously wearing appropriate protective equipment. They were not afraid to ask questions about the reactions that occurred in the test tubes, and Agnieszka Kicińska and Hubert Knap meticulously answered all questions. Another element was a display of chemical indicators and red cabbage juice. After the demonstration, the students had to use their knowledge to determine the reaction of the solution themselves. At the end, it was time for what everyone liked the most... the production of gluttons! In addition to them, the students could make their own bath salts.

The biggest surprise for me was that they really listened to the lecture and took an active part in it.
