On 21 March 2024, Eng. Hubert Knap together with Miłosz Kucharski had the pleasure of hosting students from the Second High School. Stanisław Staszic, but not from the biol-chem specialty, but mat-fiz!
The visit began with a popular science lecture on electrochemistry, which has a lot of mathematical aspects and physical phenomena (especially electricity and electronics). The lecture was led by Eng. Hubert Knap, who, in addition to the main subject, introduced the activities of the Circle and the didactic offer of the Faculty of Chemistry to the students.
After the lecture, it was time for laboratory classes, during which the students could get acquainted with the operation of the Daniella or Volta cell and could see the process of plasma electrolytic oxidation, courtesy of PhD Eng. Maciej Sowy and Msc Eng. Aleksandr Olesiński, who introduced those interested to the "world of sparks".
Thank you very much for this meeting and we hope that we managed to show the students of mat-fizu that chemistry is not only reactions, but also a lot of mathematics and physics 🙂
