Publication in Energies
The article presents the results of research on the share of coal in the energy mix and the impact of Clean Coal Technologies (CTW) on Poland's energy mix. The research took into account membrane techniques constituting CTW, the implementation of which is possible at the stage of coal processing, combustion and management of waste generated in the combustion process. These are mainly fly ashes, which are a source of rare earth elements.
Publication in Resources Policy
The article presents the results of research on the impact of REE recovery from fly ash on the development of renewable energy sources in Poland. The described computer program determines, among others, REE demand scenarios such as Nd, Dy, Pr, Tb based on the electricity production capacity for wind energy.
Publication in Energies
The article presents the results of research on the development of photovoltaic systems in Poland. The authors' aim was to identify factors that can potentially shape the dynamics of solar energy development in Poland and which will affect the implementation of the PEP2040 goals. The authors also wanted to find a forecasting method that would enable the introduction of many explanatory variables into the model - a set of identified factors. Energy storage will be of key importance in terms of the development of photovoltaics, in the production of which REE plays a huge role.
Publication in Energy Reports
The article presents the results of research on the energy security of EU-27 countries on the example of Poland and the average EU-27. The authors expanded the set of factors determining energy security with an additional category related to renewable energy sources (RES). In the presented research, the authors analyzed not only the impact of the availability of energy raw materials on the level of energy security, but also of critical raw materials, such as rare earth elements REE. A taxonomic method was used, which allowed for the determination of a synthetic measure of energy security, SEM.
Publication in Membranes
The following paper offers a modern REE 1.0 computer application designed to model the behavior of REE ions in adsorptive materials and membranes. The current version of the application is based on several models, such as the Lagergren pseudo-first order, pseudo-second-order and Elovich kinetic models, and the intraparticle diffusion model, the diffusion-chemisorption model, and the Boyd model. The application has been verified on a sample of four different types of adsorptive materials and membranes. The proposed application allowed the analysis of kinetics, but also the mechanisms of the adsorption process, especially those responsible for the rate-determining steps. It was found that Lagergren pseudo-second-order kinetic model was the best-fit model to describe the adsorption behavior of REE ions onto the novel materials and membranes.
Publication in Mineral Resources Management
This article presents research on the structure of energy mixes and the dependence on imports of the EU-27 member states, with a particular emphasis on Poland. The role of REE in ensuring energy security was also emphasized, especially in the context of the development of renewable energy sources.
Publication in Sustainability
The article presents the results of research on the impact of the transformation of Poland’s energy mix on the country’s energy security. Since energy security is a very complex problem, the impact of the transformation has been verified in three aspects, i.e., greenhouse gas emissions; energy availability in terms of its quantity, sufficient to meet the needs of citizens; and energy prices. The MANOVA model was used in the research.
Publication in Energies
The article presents an analysis of the energy markets of the EU-27 countries, with particular emphasis on Poland. Research was carried out in the context of the energy security of the European Union. The publication also highlights the special role of REE in shaping energy security.
