On Thursday, June 26^th, 2025, in the Auditorium 118 of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, Prof Rafat Siddique from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology in India will deliver 2 lectures.

Prof. Rafat Siddique has over 35 years of experience in teaching, research and organizational activities. He obtained his PhD from Birla Institute of Technology & Science (Pilani, India) in 1993 and completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (USA).

Our guest will give two lectures:

• 12.00 – Strategies to Publish Manuscripts in Q1 Journals
• 13.30 - Utilization of Industrial By-Products in the Development of Sustainable Concrete.

Prof. Rafat Siddique works as an editor in leading scientific journals, including:

• Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier)
• Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering (ASCE)
• European Journal of Environmental and Civil Engineering (Taylor & Francis).

He is a recognized expert in sustainable building materials, including concrete using industry by-products. His achievements include more than 250 articles in Q1 journals, more than 80 conference publications and more than 29 000 citations (H-index: 91) – which puts him in the top world (0,025% according to Stanford University).

He has conducted research and lectures at many prestigious universities around the world (USA, France, Germany, Finland, Mexico, Australia, China, Malaysia, UK, and many others).

His scientific interests include:

• fibre reinforced concrete,
• concrete with a high volatile ash content,
• the use of industrial waste in cement materials,
• self-compacting concrete,
• concrete at elevated temperature,
• microbial concrete.
