Lecture by Prof. Ilana Roth from Berkeley University
We invite you to participate in the lecture by Prof. Ilana Roth from Berkeley University, which will take place on October 21, 2024, at 14.00 in Hall C at the Education and Congress Centre of the Silesian University of Technology. This fascinating event will be held as part Industry 4.0 Week as part of European City of Science Katowice 2024.
Prof. Ilan Roth spent most of his career at the University of California, and also made long-term visits to the Max Planck Institute in Garching, MIT, Moscow, and Beijing, analysing the fundamental electromagnetic phenomena in the Universe. His research covers a wide range of topics – from the Earth’s ionosphere to the planetary magnetosphere, through the interplanetary medium, to the solar corona and stellar phenomena of the past and future. Professor Roth combines in situ data with numerical simulations and theoretical analysis, including innovative mathematical approaches in various ongoing studies.
The lecture entitled “Universality in Physical processes: From Aurora to Corona, from birth to death of stellar systems” will take us on a journey through a variety of electromagnetic phenomena in space. Professor Roth will present basic descriptions of ionized matter, emphasizing the direct application of basic principles in various environments, both in the present time and at different stages of their evolution.
Do not miss this unique opportunity to explore the secrets of the Universe with one of the leading experts in the field.
The statute of the Silesian University of Technology was adopted
Due to the epidemic situation, education of students, doctoral students and participants of postgraduate studies and other forms of education will be conducted only with the use of distance education methods and techniques.
