Nano- and micromaterials as carriers of drugs and diagnostic probes
We cordially invite you to a guest lecture by dr hab. Maciej Mazur entitled "Nano- and micromaterials as carriers of drugs and diagnostic probes", which will take place on December 16 (Friday) at 11:30 in the Council Room of the Faculty of Chemistry (9, M. Strzody Street, second floor).
Dr hab. Maciej Mazur is a professor at the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw. His main area of scientific interest is the preparation and experimental characterization of organic and inorganic nano- and microstructures from the point of view of their applications in medicine, in particular in the therapy and diagnosis of cancer. In his research, he uses a number of advanced experimental techniques, such as microscopic methods (SEM, TEM, AFM/STM, fluorescence, Raman and infrared microscopy), spectroscopic methods (absorption and emission in the UV VIS, Raman, FTIR, XPS, TOF SIMS), thermal (TGA, DSC) and electrochemical. In cooperation with other research centres, the obtained structures are tested in vitro on cell cultures and in vivo on animals.
Maciej Mazur also studies biomineralization processes in living organisms, with particular emphasis on modern and fossil corals. He is also a co-founder of two spin off companies whose goal is to commercialize the results of scientific research.
