Rwanda Awareness Day at the Silesian University of Technology
The Silesian University of Technology invites the entire academic community to the Rwanda Awareness Day, which will be held on Friday, July 8. The programme for the day-long event includes a conference on educational and economic cooperation between the Republic of Rwanda and the Silesian University of Technology, tree planting on campus, international sports competitions and traditional Rwandan and Polish folk dance shows.
The event will start at the “Mrowisko” Students’ Culture Centre - a conference on educational and economic cooperation between the Republic of Rwanda and the Silesian University of Technology. Among the speakers are: Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk; HE Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda in Poland, Professor Anastase Shayaka; President and founder of LUMA Holdings, Professor Radosław Miśkiewicz (University of Silesia in Katowice); President of the Katowice Special Economic Zone Janusz Michałek, PhD.
The next item will be the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Silesian University of Technology and INES-Ruhengeri, Rwanda. This will be followed by a press briefing.
At 13:00, invited guests will take part in an ecological campaign and symbolically plant trees on the campus.
In the afternoon, the less formal events will begin. The first will be the international sports competitions - friendly football and basketball matches between Poland and Rwanda.
The event will end with traditional Rwandan and Polish folk dances.
